Men's 400m Hurdles Updates--2012 London Olympic Games
FELIX SANCHEZ IS BACK! TINSLEY GETS SILVER!
It was a great 400H final as Dominican Republic's Felix Sanchez, 2004 Olympic Champion returned to form by easily winning the men's 400H Final in 47.63!! The former Olympic Champion proved that is not going anywhere! USA's Michael Tinsely first surprised everyone by winning the Trials final in Eugene, but he has continued his hot streak with a silver medal in London in 47.91! The performance was another personal best for Tinsely! Javier Culson, 2x World Silver medalist of Puerto Rico claimed the bronze medal in 48.10.
Final Start List:
Men's 400H Semis Are Rolling!
Qual. rule: first 2 of each heat (Q) plus the 2 fastest times (q) qualified
FULL RESULTS
Heat 1 - Felix Sanchez is back! The hurdler from the Dominican Republic led a crazy fast first heat to win in 47.76. The time was his fastest since 2004, the year he won the Olympic Games. Second qualifier went to Trinidad's Jehue Gordan in 47.96. Behind them was not a pretty site as 2009 World Champ Kerron Clement and 2011 World Champ Dai Greene of Great Britain finished 3rd and 4th respectively. Now they have to wait....
Potential Next Two in on Time: Kerron Clement 48.12, Dai Greene 48.18
Heat 2: USA's Angelo Taylor led hard as he usually does but faltered slightly over the final two hurdles and was passed by former world leader Javier Culson of Puerto Rico, 47.93 to 47.95. No one else qualifies on from this section.
Potential Next Two in on Time: Kerron Clement 48.12, Dai Greene 48.18
Heat 3: USA's Michael Tinsley won with a great kick over Jamaica's Leford Green in the last 30 meters. Tinsley looked very smooth as he cruised to the line in a 48.18 followed by Green in a 48.61. Both automatically qualifying to the final. The last two in come from good ole heat #1....all the player are in the game!
Next Two in on Time: Kerron Clement 48.12, Dai Greene 48.18

USA Advances All to Semi-Final
In the opening round of the men's 400 hurdles Javier Culson ran the fastest time of the day in 48.33, with 2008 Silver Medalist Kerron Clement following closely in 48.48. Culson and Clement were two of only four athletes to run under 49 seconds over the 400 meter distance. All three Americans advanced through to the semi-finals alone with 2011 World Champ and hometown favorite Dai Greene.
USA's Angelo Taylor and Michael Tinsley won their sections by easing off before the line to advance, which was a similar tactic to one of the best 400 hurldes ever with the Domincan Republic's Felix Sanchez. Don't forget that Taylor is the 2000 and 2008 Olympic Champion in the event....man has experience!
The biggest name to NOT advance was South African's L.J. Van Zyl who finish 6th in heat 5 in 50.31. Van Zyl was the 2011 World Championship bronze medalist in the event and finish 5th in the 2008 Olympics.
