Lance Armstrong banned from Chicago Marathon
Lance Armstrong's lifetime ban by the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency will keep him from competing in the upcoming Chicago Marathon. Armstrong, who has never tested positive for illegal substances, chose to end his battle against the charges brought forth by the USADA.
The scope of the USADA's decision extends beyond cycling as USA track and field must abide by the rules set forth by the World Anti-Doping Agency. USATF spokewoman Jill Greer told the Associated Press, "USATF is a signatory to the WADA code, and we confirmed with the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency that Mr. Armstrong's ban extends to track and field, road racing, and all of our sport's disciplines."Additionally, the fundraising efforts of the Lance Armstrong Foundation, the charity founded by Lance Armstrong that provides support for people affected by cancer, may be hurt in the future because of the ban.
