2015 NCAA Women's Pole Vault Preview

Kaitlin Petrillose, Texas (PB 4.60m)
Last Year: 1st Indoors, NH Outdoors
The 2014 NCAA Indoor Champion is returning after setting the NCAA indoor record with a clearance of 4.60m. In the same season, the Longhorn also broke the Big 12 Championships record with a clearance of 4.40m to secure back-to-back indoor titles. Although she posted a no-height at the NCAA Outdoor Championships, her outdoor season was highlighted with a fourth-place finish at the U.S. Championships.

Annika Roloff, Akron (PB 4.45m)
Last Year: 3rd Indoors, 1st Outdoors
Roloff captured the NCAA Outdoor title with a clearance of 4.40m by defeating Indiana’s Kelsie Ahbe in a heads-up dual for the championship. She placed third at the NCAA Indoor Championships with a jump of 4.45m, which smashed her own school record. In her junior season, Roloff also captured two MAC Championships.

Martina Schultze, Virginia Tech (PB 4.50m)
Last Year: 7th Indoors, 3rd Outdoors
The returning senior is coming off of a banner year in 2014 with two All American honors under her belt and her fifth ACC title. Her third-place finish at the NCAA Outdoor Championships was her highest finish at the meet. She also became the second woman in ACC track and field history to win three straight outdoor titles.

Emily Grove, South Dakota (PB 4.51m)
Last Year: 2nd Indoors, N/A Outdoors
She may have redshirted the 2014 outdoor season, but Grove is poised to make an immediate impact in the 2015 indoor season. Last year, Grove’s 4.51m mark was ranked No. 1 in the nation prior to the NCAA Indoor Championships. She ended up posting a runner-up finish to Petrillose at the championship, but she continued on to finish sixth at the USATF Indoor Championships.

Alysha Newman, Miami (PB 4.41m)
Last Year: 5th Indoors, 7th Outdoors
After transferring from Eastern Michigan, Newman made an immediate statement in 2014 by capturing two All American honors and breaking the Miami school record. Not only did she continue on to break her own school record throughout the season, but she also earned a third-place and runner-up finish at the ACC Indoor and Outdoor Championships, respectively.

Morgann Leleux, Georgia (PB 4.50m)
Last Year: 5th Indoors, N/A Outdoors
She was out with a leg injury during the 2014 outdoor season, but before her redshirt season, Leleux posted her third SEC title and third All American honor in the pole vault. Her clearance of 4.35m was good enough for fifth-place overall at the NCAA Indoor Championships.

Sandi Morris, Arkansas (PB 4.55m)
Last Year: N/A Indoors, 4th Outdoors
The transfer from North Carolina did not disappoint in 2014 with a fourth-place finish at the NCAA Outdoor Championships. The year prior, Morris captured another All American honor at the 2013 NCAA Indoor Championships with a fourth-place finish overall.
