Fresh off his first World Championship win, former Akron Zip Shawn Barber announced via twitter he has signed a professional contract with Nike.

The 21 year old in 2015 captured two NCAA titles and the collegiate record. Barber was also recently nominated for the Bowerman Award, the highest honest for collegiate track and field athletes. Barber is Canada's first pole vault gold medalist and it's first World Champion since 2003.
