Analysis:

Last year, we knew Boise State had an awesome recruit in 2014 NXN Champ Allie Ostrander. Did we realize fellow freshman Brenna Peloquin, who finished 50th in that same NXN race, had the talent to finish ninth in the NCAA? Boise State finished 11th as a team led by two true freshmen. We're ranking them 10th heading into 2016, but that doesn't mean they don't have the potential to land on the podium.

Ostrander suffered a bit of a hiccup during the indoor season. After running 8:54 and 15:21, she was slated to go head-to-head with NCAA champion Molly Seidel in both the 5K and 3K indoors. A lower leg injury forced Ostrander to drop out of the first race and miss the entire outdoor season--except for the Olympic Trials. She made the 5K final, held her own, and finished eighth at just 19 years old. With her health no longer in question, Ostrander will have a target on her back heading into Terre Haute.

Peloquin didn't see much success during the indoor season, but found her stride outdoors, where she finished eighth in both the 10K and 5K at the NCAA Championships. And she surprised everyone when she finished ninth last fall. With one competitive collegiate season under her belt, she should be bursting with confidence from training and competing alongside Ostrander.

Junior Minttu Hukka was a wonderful addition last fall after transferring from Lamar. She was the Broncos' consistent No. 3, and just missed All-American honors by 11 places. She set a huge PB in the indoor 5K (16:09) and qualified for the NCAA outdoor championships in the steeplechase this spring.

After those three, Boise State will look to the much-improved Anna Holdiman and a team of newcomers. Stanford transfer Megan Lacy certainly has the PBs to be considered a huge addition to the team, but she did not run within 30 seconds of her 5K best last spring. However, a change of scenery could be just what she needs to wind up a major player of this up-and-coming Bronco squad.
