A Gift Guide For The Running Nerd
If you're reading this, chances are you're a big fan of running or know someone who is. Runners love their training shoes, but what about the other accessories we obsess over? Here is a compilation of gift ideas for the typical running nerd. You know you know at least one of them!

A Sick GPS Watch

Apple rolled out the newest addition of the Apple Watch recently, and the Nike+ edition is perfect for every runner. The GPS tracks your pace, distance, and route, so even if you use the Nike+ app on your phone to track all of your runs, you can now leave that box at home. It also has all the features that the Apple Watch Series 2 has (iMessages, Apple Pay, Tinder), it's just made for the runner.

Recovery and Cross Training Devices

You've heard of foam and stick rollers, but have you tried the Roll Recovery R8? This is by far the most painful rolling device, but also the best. Just look it up on Instagram. Nearly every U.S. athlete owns one and raves about them. If you're curious about your pulse and blood oxygen levels, try the ChoiceMMed Pulse Oximeter. You clip the small device on your finger and it measures what's going on. If you're training at a high altitude location, this is a must have device.

Now sometimes people don't like to discuss chafing, a common but hush-hush elemet of our sport. Sometimes, you chafe. And that's where Body Glide comes in. They make so many specialized products, including anti blister balm! You'll never use petroleum jelly again.

And last but not least, the Elliptigo. This outdoor elliptical bike is the best cross training device out there. Not only is it fun to use, but it helps you ENJOY cross training, even if you're depressed and injured. This outdoor elliptical bike is certainly not for your office secret santa ($$), but tons of professional athletes, NCAA schools, and even high schools are buying into the product and the wonders it has done for so many.

Running Literature

There are lots of good books out there on running, but these two (created by some badass women) are all the rage right now and should be on your bookshelf immediately. Run Fast. Eat Slow. by Shalane Flanagan and Elyse Kopecky is the ultimate runner's cookbook. There are so many nourishing and tasty meals, snacks, and desserts that would make even the pickiest eater enjoy kale. I made the Kale Radicchio Salad with Lemon Miso Dressing for Thanksgiving dinner and I was OBSESSED. And ask anyone who has lived with me; I typically eat like meals straight from the kid's menu.

Lastly but certainly not least is the Believe Training Journal. Lauren Fleshman and Roisin McGettigan-Dumas teamed up to make this training journal way more than just your standard spiral notebook. It's an inspiring way to track your running journey, whether you're an elite or "washed-up." Tracking your progress and seeing the results should be fun, so buy this book for someone who needs that extra motivation to get out the door every morning.
