Top 3 Events To Watch At The Villanova Invitational
The Villanova Invitational will be held Saturday, February 4 at the Ocean Breeze Track and Field Complex in Staten Island, New York. You can watch all of the action live on FloTrack beginning at 4:00 PM Eastern time. We'll update this post with a full time schedule when it's available. Here are the top three events to watch.

1 and 2. Women's 800m and 3000m

Villanova stud Angel Piccirillo doesn't have indoor eligibilty, so she's racing unattached. In 2016, she was second at indoor NCAAs in the mile and 20th in the NCAA in cross country--she's got range.

Piccrillo has already run a 4:37 mile this indoor season, and she's entered in the 800m and 3K. If she elects to run the 3K, it will be an extremely good Big 5 matchup. Penn's Ashley Montgomery is entered in that race for her first race longer than a mile since cross country nationals. Montgomery was one of the most impressive surprises of XC nats, as she finished 13th in the entire NCAA after taking 13th at Wisconsin, second at Heps, and sixth in the Mid-Atlantic region. Her 3K PR is only 9:30--from this meet last year--and she should blow that out of the water on Saturday, especially if she's battling Piccirillo.

3. Men's 3000m

Princeton super frosh Conor Lundy is the No. 2 seed here. The top seed is Haverford alum Charlie Marquardt, who ran 8:06 at this meet last year--the fastest NCAA DIII performer in 22 years. The top freshman mark this year is 8:02, from Oregon redshirt freshman Tanner Anderson; the fastest freshman mark in the 2015-16 regular season was Oregon's Matthew Maton's 7:53. (TFRRS lists Syracuse's Justyn Knight as a freshman last year, but Syracuse's roster lists him as a junior this year.)

Anyway, two things here. Lundy was a disappointing 94th at NCAA XC after finishing 19th at Wisconsin, third at Heps, and third at regionals. This is his first track race in a Princeton uniform and he can definitely put a scare into 8:00. Second, Widener's Ernie Pitone has a shot at joining Marquardt on the DIII all-time list. His PR is 8:19 and the No. 10 all-time mark is 8:11.80.
