Arizona's Sage Watson Breaks Collegiate 500m Record
Canadian Olympian and University of Arizona All-American Sage Watson ran 1:08.40 to break the NCAA and Canadian record tonight at the Armory Invitational.
Canadian Olympian and University of Arizona All-American Sage Watson ran 1:08.40 to break the NCAA and Canadian record tonight at the Armory Invitational.
The mark makes Watson the No. 5 indoor performer all-time according to Tilastopaja, and is better than the U.S. record of 1:08.70 set by Shana Cox in 2010. Tonight's time also bettered the previous Armory record (1:08.84) set by Watson's training partner Georgeanne Moline in 2015.

Watson finished third in the NCAA 400m hurdle final in 2016. She was the Canadian National runner-up and reached the Olympic semi-final in the event, and ran a leg on Canada's fourth-place 4x400m relay in Rio. She currently ranks fourth in the NCAA 400m with a time of 52.39 (52.18 before altitude conversion) set at NAU Friday Night Duals on January 13.
