We're Putting The FloTrack Beer Mile World Championships On Ice For 2017
The FloTrack Beer Mile World Championships Are Moving To September
No, we are not making competitors run a beer mile on an ice rink. Maybe another time.
Rather, we are announcing that the FloTrack Beer Mile World Championships are taking a one-year hiatus.
Since 2014, FloTrack has brought a world-class elite beer mile field to the streets of downtown Austin, Texas, each December to race for ultimate glory. FloSports hopes to sponsor the event again in the future.
FloTrack has hosted several memorable moments in beer mile history, including two world records in 2015: Erin O'Mara set the still-standing women's world at 6:08.51, and Lewis Kent ran 4:47.17, which currently stands as the No. 3 time in world history. Six of the top seven women's times in world history were recorded at the FloTrack-sponsored event, as were three of the top seven men's times.
