14-Year- Old Boys 100m

Who: Elijah Howard
When: Prelims: Friday, July 1 4:30pm; Finals: Saturday, July 2 1:15pm
Why: Although we hear Brandon Miller for is the big name for the fourteen-year- old distance races, Elijah Howard could be the next big name on the sprints side. Howard comes into the race with a 100m time of 11.06, which would have won the 2015 AAU Junior Olympics by .54! He is also ranked #1 in the 200m with a seed time of 23.38, just edging out Omarion Blaylock.

15-16 Boys 100m

Who: Charles Lewis
When: Prelims: Friday, July 1 4:30pm; Finals: Saturday, July 2 1:15pm
Why: Representing the HAM Team Huntsville, Charles Lewis comes into the 100m dash with a seed time of 10.97, which is .28 faster than the next competitor. Lewis breaking 11 seconds is huge in the race at this age! Only one person ran sub-eleven seconds in the AAU Junior Olympics last year. He is also very close to breaking 22 in the 200, with a time of 22.01, which would also be equally as impressive.

15-16 Boys 100m

Who: Lauryn Hall
When: Prelims: Friday, July 1 4:30pm; Finals: Saturday, July 2 1:15pm
Why: Lauryn Hall, also from the HAM Team Huntsville, clocks in with an amazing seed time of 11.92! With this time she would have won the 2015 AAU Junior Olympics race. Hall also is competing in the 200, and comes in ranked first with a time of 24.87!

12-year-old Girls 400m

Who: Alexandria Woods
When: Friday, July 1 6:15pm
Why: Alexandria Woods, only twelve-years-old, is coming into the 400m with a seed time of 1:00.25, which is over six seconds faster than the next competitor! Woods also holds an impressive time in the 800, as she has a time of 2:27.14, over 24 seconds faster than the next competitor. She is also competing in the 80m hurdles and is ranked 4th going into that race! Be on the watch for Woods!

14-year-old Girls 1500m

Who: Jalyn Jenkins
When: Saturday, July 2 9:00am
Why: Jalyn, another young impressive distance runner, comes into the AAU meet with a 1500m seed time of 5:04, which is over 35 seconds faster than the next competitor, and could have placed her top 10 in last year's AAU Junior Olympics! Jenkins is going for the distance triple crown as she is also ranked number one in the 800m and 3000m.
