The women's events and the men's DMR are Friday, while men's events and the women's DMR are Saturday. You can watch it all live on FloTrack!
1. Women's 800m
Who: Lauren Wallace, Megan Krumpoch, Cory McGee
When: 1:20 pm ET Friday
Why: This could be part of a tough two-day double for all three. Krumpoch and McGee are also entered in the DMR at Saturday's New Balance Indoor Grand Prix, while Wallace is entered in the 3000m, where she's likely rabbiting.
It's Wallace's season debut in the 800m; she opened up with a 600m/1K double at Washington two weeks ago and ran a 4:38 mile in New York last weekend. If they run, it'll be the season opener for Krumpoch and McGee.
2. Women's 400m
Who: Carly Muscaro
When: 2:25 pm ET Friday
Why: She has run 52.43; according to the USTFCCCA, the Division II national record is 52.22 from 20 years ago. The Merrimack athlete could take down an NCAA record in her home state on Friday.
3. Women's Mile
Who: Elinor Purrier, Dana Giordano, Millie Paladino
When: 4:45 pm ET Friday
Why: Purrier, a steeplechaser outdoors, was third at indoor NCAAs in the mile last March. If athletes like Elise Cranny, Kaela Edwards, Christina Aragon, and more opt for the DMR, 800m, 3000m, or redshirt indoors altogether--or if they run the mile anyway--Purrier could be the top miler in the NCAA. Giordano was third in the 1500m at outdoor NCAAs last June, making her a good test for Purrier.
The current NCAA-leading time is 4:35, which is likely to go down. Purrier ran 4:29 last winter. It's the mile season opener for her and Giordano, who ran a 2:48 1K two weeks ago. Purrier's lone open race since finishing seventh at cross country nationals was a 2:07 800m last weekend.
Who: Robby Andrews
When: 3:00 pm ET Saturday
Why: It's Robby Andrews, baby! He opened his season with a 1:50 800m at the Armory two weeks ago at the Towson Tiger Invitational. The 1500m Olympian's lifetime best in the 1000m is 2:17.90 from 2013, which only missed the American record by 0.04 seconds at the time. The AR has since been lowered to 2:16.76 by David Torrence, but Torrence is no longer American. Matt Centrowitz's 2:17.00 is the No. 2 mark on the all-time list.
Andrews sits at No. 4 on the all-time list. If he improves his PR, it'll be his best race since getting disqualified from the Olympic 1500m semifinal. In 1500s and miles after the Olympics last summer, he finished outside of the top ten at Zagreb, Brussels, and Fifth Ave.
Who: Justyn Knight, Adam Palamar, Joel Hubbard
When: 3:25 pm ET Saturday
Why: Knight, Palamar, and Hubbard could be All-Americans in whatever they chose this winter. Last year, Knight was third in the 3K and Palamar was eighth in the mile at NCAAs, while Hubbard is a 3:58 miler. (Palamar is also a 3:58 miler; Knight's indoor best is 3:56.)
Palamar has raced twice this track season, running an 8:10 3K and 1:52 800m. Hubbard ran a 2:43 1K last weekend; this would be the season opener for Knight.
Knight, who beat Edward Cheserek and finished third at NCAA XC, might not be racing here, though. He's also entered in the mile at the UW Invitational. (No worries--you can still watch him live there.)
