Pole Vault Final (6:30 p.m. CT)

Kyle Rademeyer of South Alabama soared to a 5.70m NCAA title over Hunter Garretson of Akron, who also vaulted 5.70m but took second after missing his first attempt at the height. Last year's winner, Sondre Guttormse of Princeton, didn't make any attempts at 5.70m and instead opted to open up at 5.80m, but couldn't make good on those attempts.

Florida and Florida State nabbed the big Qs out of heat one, LSU and Louisville made it in from heat two, and Texas Tech and Arizona State cruise to a qualifying berth from heat three. Alabama State, Georgia, Iowa made it in on time.

1500m Semifinal (6:46 p.m. CT)

Washington's Joe Waskom led the 12 qualifiers, who all finished within a second of each other, followed by Anass Essayi of South Carolina and Wisconsin's Adam Spencer. 

All three of Washington's qualifiers will appear in the final, and both of North Carolina's will, as well.

Justin Robinson of Arizona State and Florida's Emmanuel Bamidele both PR'd and went 1-2 in heat three to advance, going 44.54 and 44.67 respectively in a tight race. Georgia's Elija Godwin, whose 44.55 ranks second in NCAA Division I this year, advanced just ahead of Robinson's teammate Dubem Nwachukwu in another close finish from heat two. The Sun Devils advanced all three qualifiers to the final on Friday as Gamali Felix nabbed the eighth spot in 45.12.

Long Jump Final (8 p.m. CT)

Carey McLeod of Arkansas made the most of fresh legs on a warm evening, establishing a new facility record with an opening-round mark of 8.26m/27-1.25 that held up, earning the senior a victory in the men's long jump. His teammate, Wayne Pinnock, helped the Razorbacks deliver a 1-2 punch at the top of the podium.

Freshman Will Sumner of Georgia showed out with a PR of 1:46-flat to lead four underclassman in the top four spots into the final. The Longhorns advanced two juniors in Crayton Carrozza and Yusuf Bizimana. Washington's Sam Ellis originally qualified in second, but was later disqualified for a lane violation, which pushed Abdullah Hassan of Wisconsin into the final.

Shot Put Final (8:30 p.m. CT)

In his first event of the day, Jordan Geist was unable to improve on his early leading throw in the hammer and surrendered the lead.

The Arizona senior flipped the script in the men's shot put, launching the orb 21.06m/69-1.25 on his final throw to capture his first NCAA Outdoor Track & Field championship at Mike A. Myers Stadium.

The victory enabled Geist, who wound up third in the men's hammer earlier, to add an outdoor shot put title to the indoor crown he won in March.

Decathlon

Leo Neugebauer of Texas won his heat of the 400m in a personal-best 47.08 to leapfrog Kyle Garland of Georgia back into the lead after Day 1 of the decathlon at the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships at Mike A. Myers Stadium.

Neugebauer concluded the first five events with 4591 points and will carry a 21-point advantage over Garland into Day 2. Sophomore Till Steinforth of Nebraska sits in third place with 4291 points while Austin West of Iowa and Ariel Soto Torrado of Arkansas sit in fourth and fifth respectively, each with 4266 points.

What Channel Is The 2023 NCAA Track And Field Outdoor Championships On?

The NCAA Track And Field Outdoor Championships are on ESPN2. Coverage for the first day begins at 7:30 p.m. ET Wednesday. Thursday coverage is at 8:30 p.m., Friday at 9 p.m. and Saturday at 9 p.m. ET.

The entire meet, including afternoon events, is streaming on ESPN+. 

Where Is The 2023 NCAA Track And Field Outdoor Championships? 

The 2023 NCAA Track and Field Championships are in Austin, Texas. The 2024, 2025 and 2026 meets will be in Eugene, Oregon, at Hayward Field. 

How Did Athletes Qualify For the 2023 NCAA Track and Field Outdoor Championships?

Athletes qualify to the Championships through performance in the First Rounds. Twelve competitors from each individual event and twelve teams from each relay event advance from each First Round site.
