After the 2022 season, Jacobs transferred to Tennessee when his coach Sean Carlson took a job with the Volunteers. In his one season in Knoxville, Jacobs finished fourth at the NCAA Cross Country Championships, first at the indoor 5000m and sixth in the indoor 3000m. He was expected to contend for both 5000m and 10,000m crowns outdoors, but finished 14th in the 10,000m.
“Excited to announce that I have signed with @on_running to begin my professional career. Can’t thank them enough for giving me the opportunity to do what I love at the highest level!” Jacobs said in an Instagram post.
Jacobs has personal bests of 7:36.89 in the 3000m, 13:11.01 in the 5000m, and 28:01.53 in the 10,000m. The 3000m time is the second fastest in NCAA history. Jacobs will continue to be coached by Carlson.
