Rhasidat Adeleke, the 2023 NCAA champion in the 400m for Texas, has gone pro and signed with Nike. 

Adeleke's best time of 49.20 is the fourth fastest in the world this year and is an Irish national record. She also holds the Irish record in the indoor 400m with a time of 50.33.

“I’m extremely grateful to have had the opportunity to represent THE University of Texas these past 3 years. I couldn't have made a better decision! I'd like to thank absolutely everyone who supported me along the way and those that helped me become who I am today,” Adeleke posted on Instagram on Sunday.

On Monday, Adeleke announced she was signing with Nike.

In addition to the 400m, Adeleke was a key member of Texas’ national championship 4x100m team that also broke the collegiate record. She has a personal best of 22.34 in the 200m. 

Internationally, Adeleke swept the 100m and 200m at the European U20 Championships in 2021. She took fifth in the European Championships in the 400m last year. 

Adeleke is scheduled to compete on Tuesday at the Continental Tour meeting in Szekesfehervar.
