The 2023 AAU Junior Olympics are underway at Drake Stadium in Des Moines, Iowa. Young track and field stars from all over the country are gathering this week to show the world what they're made of to compete for gold. 

For the next seven days, the young athletes will compete against the very best in their events. The AAU Junior Olympics is considered to be one of the most important youth track and field events of the year. For the past 50 years, this competition marks the start of many of these young athletes' careers. The excitement builds as the meet begins and the competitors are preparing to put on some record-breaking performances.

Day 1 of the AAU Junior Olympics Track and Field started on Saturday, July 29. The day was packed full of action with races featuring age divisions from 13-18 years old. And in some cases, younger.
