Luke Anderson set a new record in the boys 15-16-year-old 1500M race at the AAU Junior Olympics 2023 in Des Moines, Iowa.
The records keep on coming at Drake Stadium as youth track and field athletes are putting their best foot forward for the 2023 AAU Junior Olympics.
Luke Anderson kicked things off on Aug.1 by breaking a five-year-old record in the boy's 15-16 1500M race. Anderson ran a time of 3:57.14, beating the previous record of 3:58.10 held by Brandon Miller from 2018.
He’s not the only runner to put his name in the records books this year. On July 31, 12-year-old, Patricio Pardo, broke a 36-year-old record in the boy's 3k race. This was the first new record set at the 2023 AAU Junior Olympics.
Things are starting to heat up and there are still four days left of this year’s meet. The last day of finals is set to take place on Saturday, Aug. 5.
