Cooper Teare Announces His Decision To Leave Bowerman Track Club
Cooper Teare announced on Friday night his intention to leave the Bowerman Track Club, which follows the exit of Grant Fisher.
An exodus is underway with the Bowerman Track Club as Cooper Teare, 24, became the second athlete in nine days to depart the team on Friday.
He leaves just a year after joining the famed club last September.
The move seconds the one Grant Fisher made on Oct. 19, just over a week ago. The American record-holder Fisher (3K, 5K, 10K) was a long-time member of the group who reached the Olympics in 2021 and finished sixth in the 5,000m at the World Championships in Budapest.
Teare was a distinguished athlete at Oregon and an NCAA outdoor champion at 5,000 meters before joining Bowerman, a club that trains out of Eugene under long-time coach Jerry Schumacher. He won the U.S. title in the 1,500m in 2022, clocking a time of 3:45.86, thereby qualifying for his first World Championships.
Teare clocked a 1,500m best of 3:32.74 this outdoor season and finished fifth in the 5,000m at the USA Championships in July.
He finished his outdoor season in Monaco, where he ran a time of 13:19. Teare ran a career PR of 13:12 in May.
