NC State Star Katelyn Tuohy Announces Her Decision To Turn Pro
After securing multiple NCAA titles, the Wolfpack superstar opted to turn pro on Wednesday
Katelyn Tuohy, the four-time NCAA champion across the cross country, indoor and outdoor seasons, announced on Wednesday her decision to turn pro, choosing to sign with adidas, the brand she inked a Name, Image and Likeness deal with last November.
The NC State star spent three and a half years with the Wolfpack and has emerged over the last two years as one of the best distance stars in the NCAA.
Claiming her first national title in June of 2022 in the 5K at the outdoor championships, Tuohy would go on a tear over the next two seasons, earning her first title in cross country and two more over the indoor season in the 3K and 5K.
The former North Rockland High School legend and the winner of three-Nike Cross National titles lived up to the billing every step of the way, pacing the NC State women to three-straight NCAA cross country team titles, including the team's most recent result, a dramatic 1-point victory in November over Northern Arizona.
Tuohy's personal best times over her NCAA career stand at 4:06.49 for 1,500m, 4:24.26 for the mile, 8:35.20 for the 3K, 15:14.61 for 5K and 32:56.75 for 10K.
In cross country, Tuohy clocked a 5K best of 15:50.0 and a 6K best of 19:08, the latter coming at the ACC cross country championships in 2022. She won six individual ACC crowns over her tenure.
"I owe a big thank you to the university, the coaching staff, the support staff, my teammates, and all of those who have been a part of my time here at NC State," Tuohy wrote.
