There are lots of familiar names at the top of the first FloTrack/TFRRS NCAA Women's Indoor Track & Field rankings following impressive openers to 2024.
There are lots of familiar names at the top of the first FloTrack/TFRRS NCAA Women's Indoor Track & Field rankings of the season following some impressive openers around the country this weekend.
On the team side, Florida will begin as the top ranked team in the nation. The Gators looked mighty impressive with a limited squad at the McFerrin 12 Degree Invitational at Texas A&M on Saturday. Claire Bryant, ranked third in the long jump, led the way with victories in both the long jump and high jump, while Jess Edwards won the 600m, Grace Stark won the 60m hurdles and Jasmine Montgomery took the 200m.
Shawnti Jackson, the top-ranked high school recruit in the Class of 2023, made a spectacular sprint debut for Arkansas at the Arkansas Invitational, setting a meet record in the 400m with a world-leading 52.10 and splitting 51.71 on the anchor of the Razorback 4x400m relay which won in a meet-record 3:28.79. Jackson opens ranked 7th in the 200m and 400m rankings, while Arkansas tops the relay rankings..

On the mid-distance side, Michaela Rose of LSU, our No. 1 ranked 800m runner, was part of an impressive 1-2-3-4-5 by the Tigers in the mile at the LSU Purple Tiger meet.
Parker Valby of Florida opens as the top ranked runner at 3000m and 5000m, fresh off smashing the NCAA record in the 5000m in December. She has yet to race in 2024.
In the field events, Jasmine Mitchell and Jelani Davis of Ole Miss put on a clinic in the weight throw at the Commodore Challenge at Vanderbilt, finishing 1-2 with throws of 24.16m/79-3.25 and 24.06m/78-11.25 respectively.
