The first world championship meet of what will be a landmark year for track and field will begin on March 1 in Glasgow, Scotland at the World Indoor Track and Field World Championships.

Competition begins at 5 a.m. on Friday with 60m hurdles for the pentathlon and ends on March 3 with medal ceremonies. A total of 651 athletes from 133 teams have been entered to compete in Glasgow.

The 2024 Indoor World Championships is the first major event in this Olympic year as athletes are building toward the Paris Olympic Games this summer in July. 

American athletes qualified for the event in February.
