The Stanford Invitational has a half-century of history, and you don’t want to miss any of the action from Cobb Track and Angell Field in Stanford, California.

The event first was held in 1975, and the 2024 edition of the Stanford Invitational again will bring many of the West Coast’s elite college (and high school) athletes into the spotlight.

Take this opportunity to watch some of the nation’s top track & field stars compete in a variety of races and events. 

Friday (March 29) primarily will be reserved for the collegiate portion of the weekend, while the high school athletes will get the majority of Saturday (March 30) to showcase their skills.

The list of field events for the college athletes at the 2024 Stanford Invitational includes javelin, hammer throw, shot put, javelin, pole vault, long jump, high jump and discus.

Running events include races of 100, 200, 400, 1,000, 1,500, 3,200, 5,000 and 10,000 meters, 100-meter hurdles (women), 110-meter hurdles (men), 400-meter hurdles, distance medley relay, 4x100 relay, 4x400 relay and 3,000-meter steeplechase. 

About Cobb Track And Angell Field

Angell Field was dedicated in 1935 as the home for Stanford’s men’s and women’s track teams and it’s open daily for all Stanford students to use. The namesake is Dr. Frank Angell, head of the Faculty Athletic Committee. 

The track later was named in honor of the Charles Cobb family. 

In 1996, a new track was installed, and the infield was named Otis Chandler Field. Changes to the seating and look and feel continued in 1998, and the track was resurfaced in 2003.

The venue seats more than 2,100 across two sections of grandstands.

The Stanford track & field program debut in 1893, the second spring of the school’s existence. 

The men’s and women’s indoor and outdoor track teams, plus the cross country squads, have combined for 13 team national championships and 92 individual NCAA titles.
