How Did The U.S. Teams Fare At The World XC Championships In Belgrade?
A selection of U.S. teams competed at the World XC Championships this weekend in Belgrade, Serbia.
A heat wave coupled with a difficult course found runners on Saturday at the World XC Championships in Belgrade, Serbia.
How did Team U.S. fare?
The top outright American finisher from any race was Weini Kelati, who was 15th in the women's senior field.
Kelati, 27, has done a little bit of everything this year. The University of New Mexico alum completed a half marathon in January in Houston, clocked a 10K time of 30:33 on March 16 and then followed on Saturday with a performance to lead Team U.S.
Not bad.
Anthony Rotich led the American men in 29:22, while the U20 contingent saw Ellie Shea and Kevin Sanchez take charge, authoring fourth- and seventh-place finishes in the team races.
