Quincy Wilson Nearly Wins It For Bullis In 4x400 At Penn Relays
The Bullis School's Quincy Wilson stole the spotlight with his individual performance in the HS Boys 4x400 Championship of America at the 2024 Penn Relays.
Sophomore Quincy Wilson of the Bullis School in Potomac, Maryland, continues to find the spotlight in the world of track and field, and though his team came up short in the High School Boys 4x400 Championship of America at the 2024 Penn Relays, his individual performance nearly overshadowed Kingston College’s historic win.

Across qualifying and the final, both of which took place Saturday at Franklin Field in Philadelphia, Wilson turned in splits of 44.37 and 44.69, which left the event’s commentators flabbergasted. The 44.37 now stands as the fastest 400 split by a high schooler in Penn Relays history.
To put up those kinds of numbers, especially twice in the same day, at just 16 years old and so early in the outdoor high school track and field season, left Wilson the talk of the event, though his team finished third in the race.
Bullis High School Comes Up Short
The final standings, however, won’t reflect the tumble during the exchange from the Bulldogs’ second-runner to the third that essentially took Bullis out of contention in what was shaping up to be a memorable showdown.
The results also don’t necessarily reflect how Wilson nearly single-handedly pulled off the upset.
Kingston College, one of 47 high schools from Jamaica participating in the 2024 Penn Relays, took home the title with a 3:11.86 performance, winning the 4x400 for the third consecutive time.
The win makes Kingston the fifth team in Penn Relays history to complete a three-peat in the 4-4x400 relay and continues a Jamaican dominance in the discipline that now includes 17 straight wins for teams from the island nation.
The last American team to win the boys' 4x400 relay was Long Beach Poly from Long Beach, California, in 2007.
The runner-up Saturday was Jamaica’s Excelsior (3:12.94), followed by Bullis with 3:13.10.
Wilson was joined in the final by Julian Roberson, Colin Abrams and Cameron Horner. During qualifying earlier in the day, the roster included Alexander Lambert, Abrams, Matthew Grimes and Wilson. They qualified fourth for the nine-team final with a time of 3:14.84.
The best news for Bullis is that no one on the team is a senior, so there will be a chance for redemption at the Penn Relays in 2025.
Just over a month ago, at the 2024 New Balance Indoor Nationals in Boston, Wilson set a junior world record in the indoor 400 meters with a time of 45.76 seconds.
