McLaughlin-Levrone is the world-record holder in the 400m hurdles and has the second-fastest open 400m in history: 48.74.
This week, McLaughlin-Levrone will compete at the USATF Los Angeles Grand Prix in the 200m. She'll face Gabby Thomas in that race.

McLaughlin-Levrone hasn't competed in the 400m hurdles since the 2022 World Athletics Championships in Eugene, Ore., where she won her third world title in a world-record-setting 50.68.

That was the fourth time she broke the world record between 2021, when it stood at 52.16, and 2022.
In her 2023 campaign, she shifted her attention to a new challenge in the open 400m, winning the U.S. title in a PR of 48.74—the No. 2 time in world history—before a knee injury forced McLaughlin-Levrone to end her season and not go on to compete at the World Athletics Championships in Budapest.

Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone vs. Femke Bol At The 2024 Olympics?
As the two-time Olympic champion in the 400m hurdles recovered, Femke Bol of the Netherlands continued to progress. In 2023, she lowered her PR multiple times from 52.27 to 51.45 and won the world title in Budapest—making McLaughlin-Levrone's commitment to racing the 400m hurdles this season in defense of her Olympic title another step toward a thrilling potential matchup in Paris.
When Will Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone Compete In 2024?
McLaughlin-Levrone returned to the track this year at the Mt. SAC Relays to compete in the 4x100m, and has since made her individual event debut this season in the 100m hurdles (12.71) and followed that up most recently on May 4 with a 22.38 effort over 200m. She's slated to compete in that event again at the USATF Los Angeles Grand Prix this Saturday, May 18, and may appear in the 400m at the New York edition of the meet series on June 9. She will contest the 400m hurdles for the first time since 2022 at the American Track League's Edwin Moses Meet Of Legends, which will be LIVE on FloTrack, on May 31.

The 2024 U.S. Olympic Trials will take place in Eugene, Ore., at Hayward Field from June 21 to June 30.
When Are The Olympics 2024 In Paris?
The 2024 Olympic Games will take place in Paris, France, from July 26 to August 11.
The track & field portion of the competition will start on August 1 and finish on August 11.
