New Balance Nationals Outdoor 2024 Updates From Day 1
Thursday will mark the first day of New Balance Nationals Outdoor in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
From Thursday through Saturday, New Balance Nationals Outdoor, a premier high school track and field championship, will take place at Franklin Field the University of Pennsylvania.
Today marks the first day of the national championship and it will feature middle school and freshman races. There will be finals of the Championship 4x mile and the 5K.

Running Events:
Boys Middle School Mile:
Ruel Newberry of I'm Better Than That Track Club won the title and was just .06 off the meet record. Newberry goes 4:33.64 to claim the title. Gordon Smith was second in 4:33.88 and Colton Watson was third in 4:34.56.
Girls Middle School Mile:
Sydney Johnson made a move that helped her to the victory. The eighth-grader clocked 5:02.60 for the title. Alexandra Scappaticii, who had a strong finishing kick, goes 5:04.38 for second and Julia Kelly was third in 5:04.90.
Boys Freshman Mile:
Calvin Seitz claimed the victory in the freshman mile with a new meet record time of 4:20.85. Tyler Tomlinson of Pennsylvania finished second in 4:22.45 and Wisconsin's Will Pongonis was third in 4:23.26.
Girls Freshman Mile:
Stephanie DiPiazza wins the event in 5:01.66. Meanwhile, Marlie Klein finished as the runner up with a 5:03.17 and Karina Bird finished third in 5:04.33.
