Ja'Kobe Tharp Drops Ridiculously Fast Time At U.S. U20 Championships
An Auburn University freshman tied a World U20 record on Thursday at the U.S. U20 Championships in Eugene.
Ja'Kobe Tharp may not have won an NCAA title last week in Eugene, Oregon.
But the Auburn University freshman made sure to redeem himself less than a week later.
On Thursday at the USATF U20 Championships at Hayward Field, Tharp improved on his personal best time by six-hundredths of a second, clocking a men's 110 meter hurdle time of 13.12 seconds to qualify for the World U20 Championships in Lima, Peru.
The only qualifier? The U20 hurdle height for men decreases to 99cm, down from 106.7cm at the international and collegiate level.

Tharp isn't quite finished yet, though.
The Auburn freshman admitted during the NCAA Championships that he will head to the U.S. Olympic Trials with hopes of qualifying for Team U.S. in the 110mH. He owns a personal best time of 13.18 seconds from the NCAA season, which will bring him into the U.S. Olympic Trials with a realistic shot to chase after a spot on the U.S. team.
The U.S. Olympic Trials begin on June 21st in Eugene and last through June 30. The first round of the men's 110mH begins at 5:05 p.m. PST on Monday, June 24.
