Lisa Raye Shines In 100m Girls Final At New Balance Nationals Outdoor
West Warwick's Lisa Raye set a new 100 meter meet record at New Balance Outdoor Nationals on Saturday, while Zamarii Sanders won the boys race.
Surprises were bound to happen at New Balance Nationals Outdoor.
Maybe the biggest on Saturday?
It was Lisa Raye -- and not Adaejah Hodge -- setting a new girls meet record in the 100 meter championship.
The West Warwick (RI) sophomore ran a wind-legal time of 11.26 (+1.3) seconds on Saturday at Franklin Field, beating her meet record of 11.29 set in the prelims yesterday.

Her finals performance also tied for a U.S. No. 4 mark.
It also came after Hodge, who entered the day as the U.S. No. 1 leader in the 100m, took her time getting to the start line.
Raye wasn't fazed.
Saturday's run also marks a new personal record for the Rhode Islander.
She's coming off a state title in the 100m earlier this month with a time of 11.37. Prior to the 100m final, Raye also raced in the 4x100 with Jailynn Huffman, Xenia Raye and Tatianna Baldinell, finishing tenth running a 47.44.
To finish off her weekend, Raye is entered in the girls 200m championship.
Pennsauken's Sianni Wynn finished second in the 100m girls final, with a time of 11.49, while Hodge was third in 11.51.
Meanwhile, there was no sight of Christian Miller in the boys 100m final.
After setting a new Franklin Field record on Friday with a time of 9.95 seconds, the Creekside senior skipped out on the final. That left a championship for American Heritage's Zamarii Sanders, who ran a winning time of 10.27.
Sanders is also entered in the boys 200m.
During last year's outdoor season, Sanders clocked the second-fastest 100m time in freshman class history with a 10.40 at the Louie Bing Invitational. He was also a part of his Florida team's sub-40 effort in the 4x100 at the state championships.
Gabriel Scott finished second in the boys final and ran a time of 10.37.
