Nico Young Makes Deal With Adidas, Plus More Pro Contracts
Northern Arizona's Nico Young was the latest athlete to announce his decision to turn pro, signing with adidas on Tuesday.

It's a fitting time.
Young, 21, qualified for the U.S. Olympic team on Friday in the men's 10,000 meters, clocking a time of 27:52.40 to secure third-place. Holding the Olympic standard with his NCAA record of 26:52.72 from March at The Ten, Young guaranteed his spot for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.
His signing on Tuesday solidified a career that's been ascendent since his beginnings at Newbury Park High School, where he won individual and team Nike Cross Nationals titles in 2019, not to mention historic prep times over the ensuing season.
At Northern Arizona, where he's won two NCAA Indoor titles in the 3,000m and 5,000m and two NCAA cross country team titles with the Lumberjacks, Young has set and broken countless records. He's run times of 3:34.56 in the 1,500m, 3:56.00 in the mile, 7:37.73 for 3,000m, 12:57.14 for 5,000m and 26:52.72 for 10K. In January, Young ran an astounding time of 3:57.33 for the full mile, becoming the first athlete in history do go under four minutes at 7,000 feet of elevation.
His 5K best indoors is also an NCAA record. Young signed with an NIL deal with adidas in March.
