The final date on the Penn Relays Summer Showcase Series has gained some notoriety in recent days for its timing and opportunity.
The final date on the Penn Relays Summer Showcase Series has gained some notoriety in recent days for its timing and opportunity for Brigham Young University athlete James Corrigan, who finished third at the U.S. Olympic Trials in the 3K steeplechase in 8:26.78.
While Corrigan unlocked a bid to the Paris Games with his performance, he was without an Olympic standard in the event and from where it stands now he won't be a member of the U.S. team.
The deadline for achieving that mark is Sunday. The final meet in the Penn Relays Summer Showcase Series is Saturday at Franklin Field in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
FloTrack will stream the meet in its entirety LIVE on YouTube and its web and app platforms.

The added boost revealed on Wednesday?
The meet was promoted to World Athletics Challenger Meet status on the World Athletics Continental Tour, meaning finishers at the meet will accrue points toward their world ranking.
Corrigan is entered for Saturday's 3K steeplechase and he will be paced by former BYU teammate Kenneth Rooks, who on Sunday became the U.S. champion in the event for the second year running.
Rooks, who also does not have the Olympic standard but is No. 24 in the world rankings, will pace Corrigan through 2,400 meters.
Corrigan is currently ranked No. 82 on the World Athletics World Rankings and outside the rankings quota.
There is a chance that if Corrigan does not qualify the Olympic standard on Saturday that he will still go to Paris based on the world rankings quota. As it stands, Evan Jager, who finished fourth in the 3K steeplechase, is higher in the world rankings at No. 38.
The top three men's and women's marks based on the World Athletics scoring tables will be eligible for prize money: $1,250 for first, $750 for second and $500 for third.
Originally tabbed as an all-comers meet, the Penn Relays Summer Series is still open to all-comers up through June 27 when registration closes.
