The Diamond League London 2024 will take place July 20 as the 10th stop of the 15-event Diamond League season. Here’s how to follow the action.
It won’t be long before screens across the world are fixed on the 2024 Summer Olympics, but before the action in Paris gets underway July 26, some of the best track and field athletes in the world will be doing their thing in London for the London Athletics Meet/Diamond League London 2024.
The 10th event of the 2024 Wanda Diamond League season, also known as the “World’s Biggest One-Day Athletics Meet,” will take over London Stadium on July 20 for a variety of events for athletes of all skill levels.

The first seven events on the 2024 Diamond League schedule took place between April 20 and June 2, after which, a month-long hiatus allowed many countries to finalize their teams and plans for the upcoming Olympics.
The Olympic Games will take place in Paris from July 26 through Aug. 11. The track and field events will be held Aug. 1-11.
In the meantime, the Diamond League action resumed July 7 with an event in Paris, followed by a meet in Monaco on July 12.
If London Stadium looks familiar, it’s because the venue also has Olympic ties, having been built to host the Summer Olympics in 2012.
The 60,000-seat (80,000 for concerts) now is home to Premier League football’s West Ham United and UK Athletics and hosts other top-tier sporting events (rugby, soccer, etc.), as well as concerts and shows.
Following the London event, the Diamond League will take another break, before returning Aug. 22 for five more meets.
The 2024 Diamond League season kicked off at the end of April with a pair of stops in China – Xiamen and Shanghai/Suzhou – and then visited Qatar on May 10, Morocco on May 19, Eugene, Oregon (Prefontaine Classic), on May 25, Oslo (Bislett Games) on May 30, Stockholm (BAUHAUS-galan) on June 2, Paris on July 7 and Monaco on July 12.
During the 15-event Diamond League schedule this year, athletes will cross the globe, with the season-ending championship event taking place in Brussels, Belgium, on Sept. 13-14.
The Diamond League London 2024 will include seven men’s disciplines and seven women’s disciplines, as athletes continue collecting points toward the year’s final event in Belgium.
The invitation-only Diamond League brings together the most elite track & field athletes to showcase their skills, earn prize money, collect points toward the season-ending championship event and ultimately elevate the status of athletics across the globe.
Traditionally, Diamond League competition includes a slate of 16 disciplines, though not every meet features all of them.
Points accumulated during the first 14 events of the season determine the athletes who advance to the final event, where they compete for more prize money and Diamond League titles.
The disciplines featured in London in 2024 will be:
Men
- 100 Meters
- 400 Meters
- Emsley Carr Mile
- 3,000 Meters
- 400-Meter Hurdles
- Shot Put
- High Jump
Women
- 200 Meters
- 400 Meters
- 800 Meters
- 400-Meter Hurdles
- Javelin
- Pole Vault
- Long Jump
The league’s athletes wasted no time getting back into the spotlight after their recent break, with the Paris event seeing world records in the high jump and 1,500 meters, while more/different athletes were expected to put on a similarly exciting show in Monaco.
Among those expected to compete in the London meet is a trio of past pole vault world champions – Nina Kennedy (Australia), Katie Moon (United States) and Molly Caudery (Great Britain) – who also were on the slate for Monaco. Caudery owns the best performance among the three in 2024, a 4.92m effort in June.
On the men’s side, shot put world record holder, Ryan Crouser of the United States will take aim at topping his head-turning mark of 23.56m, set in 2023. He previously won gold medals at the last two Olympics (Rio in 2016 and Tokyo in 2020) and is the two-time defending world champion.
Crouser's visit to London this month will allow him to defend the shot put title at the London Athletics Meet.
On the track, young phenom and local standout Louie Hinchliffe, 21, will be looking to continue the magic he’s enjoyed in the 100-meter event. In June, he became the first European to win the men’s NCAA national title in the discipline.
The complete list of entries for London hasn’t been finalized yet (as of July 12), but once it’s available, it will be available HERE.
