There's been a buzz around the name Quincy Wilson over the last few months.
And rightfully so.
The talented 400m sprinter, a native of Chesapeake, Virginia, caught worldwide attention during the year. Why do you ask?

Quincy Wilson Is One Of The Youngest On Team USA Team
At just 16 years old, Wilson is one of the youngest members of the 2024 U.S. Olympic team across all sports and events.
He became the youngest American male track and field athlete in history when he punched his ticket to the Paris Olympics after he finished sixth at the U.S. Olympic Trials in Eugene, Oregon in the 400m. In the finals, he produced a 44.94 and from there, was selected for the 4x400m relay pool.
The rising junior from Bullis School (MD) joins Hezlyn Rivera, a gymnast from New Jersey, as one of the two youngest competitors for Team USA.
Quincy Wilson Has Been An AAU National Champion Since 2017
It's one thing to win a national title once and it's another to do it five times.
Let's be honest, Wilson knows how to win.
At the AAU Junior Olympic Games, Wilson has been winning the 400m title since 2017. The only year where he didn't defend his crown was in 2020 during the pandemic.
When he was nine years old, Wilson won the title in 1:02. When he was 14 years old, Wilson dropped his time to a 47.77, which was back in 2022.
Quincy Wilson Broke The National High School & U18 Record Three Times This Season
This outdoor season alone, Wilson shattered the national high school record in the 400m.
He didn't do it not once. Not twice. But three times.
At the prelims of the U.S. Olympic Trials, Wilson went 44.66 to break Darrell Robinson's 44.69 from 1982.
In the semi-final round at the Olympic Trials, Wilson improved on that mark to a 44.59.
Even though these performances were jaw-dropping, what he did was Holloway Pro Classic was memorable.
When Wilson toed the line at the University of Florida, he was able to hold his own against professional athletes including Matthew Boling and Bryce Deadmon. Wilson crossed the finish line as the fastest athlete in the 400m that day and with a new national high school and U18 record of 44.20.
Before the spring season, the Bulldog became the second boy in high school history to go sub-46 seconds during the indoor season in the 400m. He sprinted past Elize Coleman's 45.92 national high school record, which stood for 20 years. This winter, Wilson clocked 45.76 to claim the New Balance Nationals Indoor title.
When Are The Paris 2024 Olympic Games?
The Olympics begin on July 26 and end on August 11. The track and field events will begin on Aug. 1.
