Jamaican sprinter Shericka Jackson confirmed on Wednesday that she will be opting out of the 100 meter competition at the Paris Olympics in favor of focusing on her preferred event, the women's 200m.

Jackson is the reigning World Championship silver medalist at 100 meters who owns a personal best time of 10.65, though she only entered the Olympics with a season best of 10.84, a time that won her the Jamaican championship at the distance.

"Yes, I'm only running the 200m here," the three-time Olympian Jackson said.

Three years ago, however, Jackson burned out of the 200m rounds, failing to qualify from her heat after mismanaging her initial round.

Jackson may be vying for some revenge there. An Olympic gold medalist in the 4x100 from 2021, she owns a top time in 2024 of 22.29. But there may be some doubt after limping across the finish line in Hungary on July 9 -- though it was later clarified that Jackson only had a cramp.
