The 2024 Paris Olympic Games turns the page after nearly a week of action on Aug. 1 as the event’s most watched sport takes center stage. 

For the next 10 days, the most important track and field meet in the world takes over the Olympics in and around Stade de France in Paris.

Most days will feature two sessions, a morning and afternoon, as some events will be in the early hours of the morning in the United States. Those events will likely get replayed on the various NBC Networks and be available live and on demand on the Peacock streaming service. 

The first day of 2024 Olympic Track and Field action will feature just two events starting at 1:30 a.m. EST and 3:30 a.m. EST. Here’s how to watch the first day of Olympic Track and Field action.

Every event is live on Peacock and the first track and field event, the 20K Race Walk Final for men’s and women’s will only be streaming live on Peacock. 

NBC is also broadcasting a primetime Olympic show in the United States at 7 p.m. each night that will include re-broadcasts.

What Is The Race Walk?

According to the USATF: 

"Race walking differs from running in that it requires the competitor to maintain contact with the ground at all times and requires the leading leg to be straightened as the foot makes contact with the ground. It must remain straightened until the leg passes under the body. Judges evaluate the technique of race walkers and report fouls which may lead to disqualification. All judging is done by the eye of the judge and no outside technology is used in making judging decisions."
