We'll have to wait for the potential debut of 16-year-old Quincy Wilson at the Paris Olympics

The Maryland-area high school student from the Bullis School (MD) was not named to the U.S. team's mixed 4x400m squad for Friday's opening round. While the online lineup shows Wilson on the 4x400 team, his mother Monique Wilson revealed on social media on Thursday that "the Coach notified Quincy that he will not be running in the mixed 4x400 relay."

The mixed 4x400 relay is allowed one substitution following the preliminaries, however, and there's a possibility Wilson could run in the mixed 4x400 final or in the opening round of the men's 4x400 or final.

Wilson finished sixth in the men's 400m final at the U.S. Olympic Trials in 44.94 and has been on a tear this summer, recently running 44.20 at the Holloway Pro Classic to lower his world U18 record and high school national record.

Wilson is currently the eighth-fastest athlete at 400 meters in the world and the third-fastest American behind Quincy Hall and Vernon Norwood.

The Marylander has broken the world U18 record on three different occasions this summer, including twice at the U.S. Olympic Trials and most recently in Florida.

When Are The Paris 2024 Olympic Games?
