From recent Olympic champions, reigning and past world champions to local standouts, the Silesia Kamila Skolimowska Memorial/Diamond League Silesia 2024 will provide some must-watch action from Poland.

Nine of the events being held in Silesia will feature gold medalists from the 2024 Olympics, while other competitors will get their chance at redemption.

The 12th event of the 2024 Wanda Diamond League season will be held at the Silesian Stadium in Chorzow, Poland, and will include a variety of events for athletes of all skill levels.

The first seven competitions on the 2024 Diamond League schedule took place between April 20 and June 2, after which, a month-long hiatus allowed many countries to finalize their teams and plans for the upcoming Olympics.

The Olympic Games took place in Paris from July 26 through Aug. 11. The track and field events were held Aug. 1-11. The last stop for Diamond League before the Olympis was London on July 20.

The first event back after the Olympics brings the competition to the most Olympics-related city there is, Lausanne, Switzerland, which is home to the International Olympic Committee (Aug. 22).

The rest of the calendar includes Silesia, Rome (Aug. 30), Zurich (Sept. 5) and Brussels, Belgium (Sept. 13-14).

About The Diamond League

The invitation-only Diamond League brings together the most elite track & field athletes to showcase their skills, earn prize money, collect points toward the season-ending championship event and ultimately elevate the status of athletics across the globe. 

Traditionally, Diamond League competition includes a slate of 16 disciplines, though not every meet features all of them. 

Points accumulated during the first 14 events of the season determine the athletes who advance to the final event, where they compete for more prize money and Diamond League titles.

• 3,000 Meters

• 100 Meters
• 100-Meter Hurdles

• 1,500 Meters

• Javelin

About The Silesian Stadium

The Silesian Stadium underwent a significant, and lengthy renovation process that spanned from 2009-2017, wth the ultimate goal of making it more modern and more equipped to host top-tier track and field events, though other competitions and shows are held there, too.

Though the updates cost the facility about half of its original capacity, there still is room for more than 54,000 track and field fans to file in to watch their favorite athletes, many of whom recently found success at the 2024 Olympics.

Among the entrants will be Natalia Kaczmarek, who picked up Poland’s only track and field medal at the 2024 Olympics, a bronze medal in the women’s 400. She’ll have the opportunity for a rematch against the two women who beat her in Paris – Marileidy Paulino of the Dominican Republic (gold) and Salwa Eid Naser of Bahrain (silver).

Polish hurdler Pia Skrzyszowska is scheduled for the 100-meter hurdles, where she’ll meet the entire podium from the Olympics – Masai Russell of the United States (gold), Cyrena Samba-Mayela of France (silver) and Jasmine Camacho-Quinn of Puerto Rico (bronze).

The other winner from the 2024 Olympics in the women’s field in Silesia will be Japan’s Haruka Kitaguchi (javelin).

Men’s champions from the recent Olympics headed to Poland are New Zealand’s Hamish Kerr (high jump), Ryan Crouser of the United States (shot put), Sweden’s Armand Duplantis (pole vault), Morocco’s Soufiane El Bakkali (3,000-meter steeplechase), Emmanuel Wanyonyi of Kenya (800) and Letsile Tebogo of Botswana (200).

How To Watch The Diamond League Silesia (Silesia Kamila Skolimowska Memorial) 2024

For audiences in the United States, live coverage of the one-day event will be provided by Peacock, and the action will get underway at 10 a.m. Eastern. It is one of the many Diamond League events being broadcast this year on Peacock and/or NBC or one of the other related networks.

Starting in 2025, which was announced April 10, FloTrack will be the streaming home of the Diamond League for audiences in the United States and its territories (with the exception of any events being held in the United States.
