Sahlman, a legendary athlete in high school for Newbury Park -- he still owns the nation's fastest 5,000 meter performance on grass during cross country in history -- is coming off a sophomore season for NAU that saw him reach the NCAA Outdoor Championships in the 1,500m, where he reached the final and finished fourth.
He clocked career-best college marks of 1:45.63 for 800m, 3:33.96 for 1,500m and 13:38.96 for 5,000m and looks to be one of the NCAA's top emerging standouts over the remaining 2024 season and the 2025 calendar year.
Sahlman, a two-time high school national team champion in cross country for Newbury Park and a former national record-holder at 3,200m, also finished sixth at the NCAA Indoor Championships in the mile and clocked a best of 3:53.17 for the distance in January.
Congdon, meanwhile, was a finalist in the 1,500m at the NCAA Outdoor Championships, where she netted a ninth-place finish and a career mark of 4:07.81.
A native of Steamboat Springs, Colorado, Congdon owns career-best marks of 2:02.20 in the 800m, 4:30.24 in the mile and 9:15.67 for 3,000 meters.
