Grand Slam Track League Signs Quincy Hall and Matthew Hudson-Smith
The Grand Slam Track League has officially added Quincy Hall and Matthew Hudson-Smith to its star-studded line-up.
Grand Slam Track has officially signed Quincy Hall and Matthew Hudson-Smith as racers for the league’s Grand Slam events
On Thursday morning, the league announced the additions of the Paris Olympic 400m gold medalist, Hall, and the Paris Olympic 400m silver medalist, Hudson-Smith, strengthening its lineup by securing the entire Olympic 400m podium for the league.
These additions mark a significant step in Grand Slam Track’s mission to elevate the sport by assembling the world’s fastest athletes under one banner. Fans can expect the kind of high-stakes competition that only happens at the highest levels of the sport, making each race a can’t-miss event. With Paris Olympic 400m bronze medalist Muzala Samukonga already on board, fans can look forward to thrilling rematches from the 2024 Paris Olympics—a massive win for track and field enthusiasts.
Quincy Hall, from Kansas City, Missouri, is a four-time All-American and the 2019 NCAA Champion in the 400m hurdles for the University of South Carolina. Hall captured the world's attention in his Olympic debut, claiming gold with a personal best of 43.40 seconds—marking the U.S.’s first gold in the event in 16 years and placing him fourth all-time in the 400m.
Matthew Hudson-Smith is a three-time Olympian and the reigning 400m silver medalist from the Paris Games. There, he set a new European record with a personal best of 43.44 seconds. Hudson-Smith also earned a bronze medal in the 4x400m relay in Paris, adding to his growing list of accomplishments.
“They’ve both had incredible seasons, especially with their performances in Paris and it’s clear they’re at the top of their game,” said Michael Johnson, founder and commissioner of Grand Slam Track., in a provided statement. “What we’re building here is all about bringing together the best athletes from around the world and creating real competition that fans can get behind. Quincy and Matthew are the kind of racers who can elevate any event, and I’m really looking forward to seeing what they bring to the table in our inaugural season.”
What Is Grand Slam Track?
Grand Slam Track, created by four-time Olympic gold medalist Johnson, will feature four track events -- AKA Slams -- in 2025 where signed Racers and appearing Challengers will compete head-to-head in two events over the two-days Slams. Racers, including Kerley and Bednarek, will receive base compensation for competing in each Slam and can earn additional prize money based on their performances.
96 total athletes -- 48 Racers and 48 Challengers -- will compete in each Slam. Grand Slam has a reported prize pot of $12.6 million and the Category winners of Slam will win $100,000.
