HOKA NAZ Elite's Mercy Chelangat & Paige Wood Are Heading To Cross Champs

Over the last few years, Cross Champs has brought some of the world's greatest distance runners to Austin, TX for some good ol' fashioned cross country.

In year's past, world-class clubs including On Athletics Club, HOKA NAZ Elite, Taylor Made Elite, and many others, have all taken their shot at the 8k course at Camp Mabry.

The 2024 edition of the Cross Champs, by Sound Running, will have just as much high-level talent, including two new recent commitments.

Former NCAA standouts Mercy Chelangat and Paige Wood have booked their tickets for Cross Champs. Both runners compete for HOKA NAZ Elite.

Chelangat, a two-time national champion and a 10-time All-American while at Alabama, is coming off of an impressive slate of racing. She has recently ran to lifetime bests in the road 5,000m, road 10,000m, track 10,000m and half-marathon,.

In her Cross Champs debut, Chelangat is hoping to recapture the magic she experienced in the collegiate ranks just a few years ago.

Wood, who spent time at both Lipscomb and Syracuse, tallied three All-American honors. Over the course of her first couple of years on the professional circuit, Wood tried her hand at a number of events, but has most recently opted for the roads.

Less than a week ago, she finished seventh at the Abbot Dash to the Finish Line. She notched a new 5k road best of 15:41.

Two of the many high-caliber runners of HOKA NAZ Elite, Chelangat and Wood are both up to the task of running fast at the Cross Champs.
