On Thursday evening, Parker Valby won the 2024 Bowerman Title.

This year, she won four NCAA titles for the University of Florida during the indoor and outdoor season. She won the indoor 3,000m, the indoor 5,000m, the outdoor 5,000m and the outdoor 10,000m.

She also set the collegiate record in the 5,000m (14:52.18), and the collegiate record in the 10,000m (30:50.43).

She ran the 14:52.18 at the NCAA Outdoor Championship, and her record-setting 10,000m at the Bryan Clay Invitational.

"When I first started running at the University of Florida, I never thought that I would be here accepting this 37 pound trophy," said Valby after receiving her award.

"There were many moments during my running career that I thought about quitting, so it is very surreal and I'm so grateful to be here," she continued.

The success for Valby carried on through the summer as she took fourth in the 5,000m and second in the 10,000m at the U.S. Olympic Trials in Eugene, and she would go on to finish 11th at the Paris Olympics at the 10,000m distance in 30:59.28.

Valby recently signed a professional contract with New Balance. She is expected to make her professional debut at the New Balance Grand Prix in Boston, Massachusetts on February 2.
