The "World's Fastest 10,000m" is returning to San Juan Capistrano, Calif. on March 29 at Sound Running's The Ten, and meet organizers have announced the entries for the elite 10k fields.

On the women's side Weini Kelati and Elise Cranny highlight a stacked list of entries. Among the top entrants in the men's field include Drew Hunter, Graham Blanks, Morgan McDonald, and Habtom Samuel.

The Ten holds a strong reputation for producing elite 10,000m performance, with over a dozen national records having been set at the event throughout its history.

In 2022, Grant Fisher ran 26:33.84 to narrowly beat Moh Ahmed, scoring the American record while Ahmed notched the Canadian record. Then in 2024, The Ten saw eight men run under 27:00, as well as and the first sub-30-minute 10,000m performance by a woman on U.S. soil.

• The women's American 10,000m record of 30:03.82 set by Alicia Monson in 2023 is on watch.
• Lauren Ryan will look to re-break the Australian national record after setting it with her 30:35.66 at the 2024 event.
• Could Weini Kelati be the one to notch the American record? She certainly could be in play for it as she enters coming off another U.S. record-breaking run at the 2025 Houston Half Marathon where she clocked 1:06:09.

Key Storylines To Watch:

• Graham Blanks will race the 10,000m for the first time while doning the New Balance pro kit. The last time the two-time NCAA cross country champion race that distance on the track was at the 2023 NCAA Outdoor Championships in Austin, Texas where he finished sixth.
• Drew Hunter returns to the event where he made his anticipated 10,000m debut at last year. At The Ten in 2024, Hunter, who's historically found success anywhere from 1,500m to 5,000m, moved up in distance and found success, running 27:38.87. He would go on to narrowly miss making the Paris Olympic team in the 10,000m, finishing fourth at the U.S. Olympic Trials.
• Could we see another collegian dip under 27 minutes? Last year, both Nico Young (NAU) and Habtom Samuel (New Mexico) dipped under that barrier, and Young set the collegiate record in the process. In 2025, don't count out Frenchman Romain Legendre (Adams State) from chasing after the feat. He's already gone 13:02.08 indoor for 5,000m this indoor season, which is a D2 record and one of the fastest marks ever in collegiate history across all levels.
• Habtom Samuel could target the Collegiate Record of 26:52.72. Samuel's personal best is 26:53.84 from 2024's race.
