Tulane Athlete Earned All-American Honors While Allegedly Suspended
Caroline Jeptanui competed for Tulane University while allegedly provisionally suspended by the Anti-Doping Agency of Kenya.

In November, Tulane's Caroline Jeptanui claimed All-American Honors at the NCAA DI Cross Country Championship by virtue of her 12th place finish, however she may have been provisionally suspended during that performance.
Earlier today, an article by LetsRun's Jonathan Gault reported that Jeptanui was provisionally suspended by the Anti-Doping Agency of Kenya (ADAK) in September. It claims that she knowingly competed under provisional suspension throughout the 2024 cross country campaign.

According to the report, Jeptanui recieved the suspension following her actions at the Kapsabet Half Marathon back on March 31, 2024. LetsRun received a copy of the suspension letter in which the ADAK claimed that Jeptanui purposely evaded a drug test following said race, and attempted to hide her identity.
Interestingly, race results from that half marathon do not list Jeptanui as a finisher.
Jeptanui's first race in the Tulane uniform came on October 4, 2024, at the Sean Earl Loyola Lakefront Invite. She finished second.
The Kenyan international student-athlete then finished second at the NCAA South Central Region Championship and two weeks prior to that she won the American Athletic Conference Championship. She was regarded as one of the top freshman in the NCAA.
It should be noted that despite this news, Jeptanui is not listed on the ADAK's website as a provisionally suspended athlete. That being said, the list on the website seems to be outdated. The most recent listed suspension is from June 2023.
Additionally, she is not listed on the Athletic Integrity Unit's website.
Tulane University sent FloTrack the following statement in regard to the original publication:
"We are committed to creating an environment that fosters teamwork, scholarship, sportsmanship, leadership, loyalty, and integrity. We are aware of a recent article regarding one of our student-athletes and will work with the proper organizations and governing bodies to ensure all requirements are fulfilled."
FloTrack reached out the ADAK for verification and comment, but has not received a response. FloTrack also reached out to the NCAA and its drug testing contacts but has not received a response at the time of this writing.
