USA Track & Field (USATF) has unveiled a 56-athlete roster for the upcoming World Athletics Indoor Championships, scheduled for March 21-23 in Nanjing, China. Originally set for 2020, the event was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic but is now poised to take place in 2025.
The U.S. team is led by ten returning medalists from last year’s World Indoor Championships in Glasgow, including standout Grant Holloway, who has dominated the men’s 60-meter hurdles since 2015. Holloway, the world indoor record holder, enters the competition with a 76-race win streak across heats and finals, making him a top contender once again.

In the women’s long jump, Monae' Nichols, who earned silver in Glasgow, is aiming to climb the podium after winning the USATF Indoor Championships title in Staten Island this February. Also looking to improve on last year’s performance is Sam Kendricks, the world outdoor pole vault champion in 2017 and 2019, who holds three silver medals from previous World Indoor Championships (2016, 2018, and 2024).
Alexis Holmes and Chase Jackson are also returning medalists. Holmes, who took bronze in the women’s 400 meters and silver in the 4x400-meter relay at last year’s championships, enters the event as the 2025 USATF indoor champion. Meanwhile, Jackson, who set a new American indoor record in the shot put in Poland in February, earned bronze in Glasgow and will look to build on her 2025 USATF Indoor Championships win.
Relay medalists Chris Bailey, Quanera Hayes, Bailey Lear, Jacory Patterson and Matthew Boling will compete in China. Bailey is the fastest 400 man in the world this year with a best of 44.70 and will run the open 400 alongside Patterson. Hayes, Lear, and Boling are in the relay pools.
Team USATF will have three entrants in the men's 60 and 400, and the women's shot put and 60 hurdles who received byes given to winners of the World Indoor Tour. Brian Faust won the men's 400 overall title on this year's Tour and Jackson won the shot put, while Ronnie Baker and Christina Clemons are holdovers from 2020. The winners of overall Tour titles in 2019 and 2020 were given byes this year since they lost their opportunity with the COVID-related postponement in 2020.
