Day 1 of the 2025 World Athletic Indoor Championships saw several athletes take gold as the first day included the conclusion of the Pentathlon, several field events and the Men’s 60 Meters Finals in Nanjing, China.

The second day, which started on March 21 in the United States, and March 22 in China, featured the start of the Heptathlon and the Women's Pole Vault Finals in the first session. 

France's Marie-Julie Bonnin won gold in the Women's Pole Vault in the first session, the only Final in what was the morning session local time.

The second session on Day 2 began just after 6:30 a.m. ET in the United States.

Men's 3,000 Meter Final

In a brilliant final, Paris Olympics 5,000 Meters Gold Medalist Jakob Ingebrigtsen and Paris Olympics 10,000 Meter Gold Medalist Berihu Aregawi battled to a 1-2 finish. Agregawi denied a pass attempt by Ingebrigtsen at the bell, but Ingebrigtsen was able to overtake him on the home stretch to take gold. 

Australian's Ky Robinson surged pass American Sam Gilman in the final 20 meters to take bronze. American Dylan Jacobs was fifth.

Women's 3,000 Meter Final

In an entertaining women's 3K, Japan's Nozomi Tanaka ran upfront while others packed behind her. Tanaka faded late in the race, and Ethiopia's Birke Haylom pulled ahead. 

A thrilling final lap for the second and third spots saw American Shelby Houlihan run down Australia's Jess Hull on the final stretch to win the silver medal behind Haylom. Hull finished third. For Houlihan, it was her first time back on a global stage after returning from a 4-year ban.
