It was a clean sweep of the medals for Team USA in the 400m on Saturday in Nanjing at the 2025 World Indoor Track and Field Championship.

Christopher Bailey, Brian Faust and Jacory Patterson won gold, silver and bronze in the men's 400m final at the 2025 World Indoor Championships, dominating the event for the U.S. and marking just the second time ever that a country has swept an event at the meet.

Bailey took home the win in 45.08, while Faust earned second in a 45.47 season best and Patterson finished third in 45.54.

Coming into the event, earning all three medals was certainly a possibility for the Americans. Bailey entered the final as the world leader having clocked 44.70 earlier in the season. Faust and Patterson also have experience racing on the world stage.

The three got out hard, with Faust taking the break after cutting in from lane six and Bailey and Patterson following him closely. Bailey made his winning pass on the backstretch on the bell lap, charging ahead of Faust and not looking back. 

Bailey powered convincingly to the win in 45.08 while Patterson and Faust battled for silver and bronze in the closing meters. Faust managed to hold off a late charge from Patterson, snagging second in 45.47 -- just seven-hundredths of a second ahead of Patterson in third.

Attila Molnar of Hungary tried to kick in the final 50 meters to spoil the American sweep, but fell just short with a fourth-place finish in 45.77.

But the World Indoor Championships aren't done yet for the U.S. trio, as they are likely to feature on the men's 4x400m relay to close out action in Nanjing on Sunday.
