Time to buckle up. Things could get really exciting, really quick at the 2025 Bryan Clay Invitational. While there are star-studded fields in most events, only one features a high schooler with high odds to make history on Thursday night.

Jane Hedengren, who just demolished the HS National 2-Mile Record, is slated to race in the top section of the women's 5,000m and she stands a great chance at shattering the Outdoor HS National Record of 15:25 set by Elizabeth Leachman in 2024. Hedengren holds the all-conditions record of 15:13.26

That race is slated to go off at 9:00 PM PT (12:00 AM ET), and will stream exclusively LIVE on FloTrack.

Just last Saturday (April 12), at the Arcadia Invitational Invitational, Hedengren stormed to a 9:34.12 in the invitational two mile, and shattered the previous all-conditions high school record of 9:38.68 set by Mary Cain in 2013.

Two mile times don't always indicate success over the 5,000m, but Hedengren is proven over the longer distance. She won the Nike Cross Nationals Championship in 2024 with a course record and then set a US U20 Indoor National Record of 15:13.26 to win Nike Indoor Nationals in March.

She also owns the stunning high school national mile record, a 4:26.14.

The BYU commit will be towing the line with the best at the collegiate level. Lexy Halladay-Lowry (BYU), Hilda Olemomoi (Florida) and Pamela Kosgei (New Mexico) are just three women on the entry list. All three have run 15:00 or faster. Halladay Lowry was the NCAA Indoor 5,000m runner-up.

Those three will likely be targeting the collegiate national record of 14:52.18 set by Parker Valby in June of last year. Olemomoi has run the fastest of that trio, posting a 14:52.84 indoors at the BU Season Opener in December.

The field also consists of Abi Nichols (NAZ Elite), Sophia Kennedy (Stanford), Chloe Scrimgeour (Georgetown), Riley Chamberlain (BYU) and plenty of others names capable of big times.

In the end, Hedengren will have plenty of competition to run with -- and the focus might shift from a high school national record to sub-15.
