The Speed River Track and Field Club is pleased to announce the addition of Canadian Olympian Malindi Elmore to the club.  The Kelowna, BC native is three time Canadian 1500 metre champion,  Pan American Games bronze medalist and World University Games medalist. She represented Canada at the 2004 Olympic Games after winning the Olympic Trials that year and was runner-up to new club mate Hilary Stellingwerff at the 2008 Olympic Trials.  Elmore brings impressive range having medalled at the Canadian Championships over 800 metres, was part of the Canadian World Cross Country Championships bronze medal winning team and also is one of Canada's fastest 5000 metre runners.

"We are honoured to have an athlete of Malindi's calibre join our club.  Malindi brings a tremendous athletic skill set but more importantly is a great fit with our group.  We are excited to help Malindi as she gets ready for the London Olympics." commented Speed River Manager Chris Moulton.

Elmore will continue to work with long time coach Mike Van Tighem, working in collaboration with Speed River Head Coach Dave Scott-Thomas and Hilary Stellingwerff.

"I am really excited to be joining Canada's top distance club and being part of a such an outstanding team.  I love what the group has been doing to promote excellence in distance running across Canada and that it is continuing to gain momentum across track, road and cross country events.  Speed River has raised the bar in terms of athlete performance and team spirit and I hope to be able to contribute significantly to the club's Olympic success this year." commented Elmore on joining the club.

Elmore has been training with Stellingwerff in Phoenix, Arizona for the past three weeks and will be opening up her season next weekend at the University of Washington Invitational.
