Rupp is heading into the 2012 Olympic Games after winning both the 10k and 5k at the US Olympic Trials and setting a new Trials record in a time of 27:25 in Eugene. In an epic 10k final at the 2009 NCAA Outdoor Championships, Rupp took on Sam Chelanga and Shawn Forrest to come through with the win in a time of 28:21. As an Oregon Duck, Rupp solidified himself as a collegiate legend with his 5th NCAA Championship title.
Last year in September 2011, history was made as Rupp smashed the 10k American record in Brussels with a blazing time of 26:48, putting himself in contention with 10k legends Bekele and Rotich.

In June 2012 at the US Olympic Trials in Eugene, Rupp made a statement at his home track of Hayward Field where he smashed the 10k Trials record for the win in a time of 27:25.33.
