Bernard Lagat will return to the Millrose Games in Februrary with his sights set on reclaiming his American record in the two-mile, which Galen Rupp broke at USATF Classic last year. Lagat is no stranger to the Millrose Games and records there as he holds the 5,000-meter record as well as eight Wannamaker Mile crowns to his name.
Armory track confirmed that Lagat will be racing in New York in 2013, just one week after they added Nick Symmonds and Duane Solomon in the 600-meter race.
Last year, Lagat held off Lawi Lalang for the title. There will be more of the same this year as Lalang is listed in the race after finishing third at the NCAA Cross-Country Championship.
WIth only one mention in the press release, Cam Levins is listed in the race. Levins would be looking to start off his 2013 with a win after a 2012 when he was all about winning. He won multiple 2012 NCAA titles and after signing with Nike he won the Canadian Cross-Country Championship. Once he joined Twitter, he started sharing his training log that includes casual 36 mile days and 160-190 mile weeks.
Lagat loves the Big Apple and the only question now is if he will be able to replicate his success from previous years. This year he's got plenty of company with Lalang, Hill, and Levins chasing him.
