Catholic 7 to Keep Big East Name; What does it means for track?
According to ESPN, the Big East schools dubbed as the "Catholic Seven" will form a new conference as early as next season while keeping the Big East name. The futures of schools like DePaul, Georgetown, Providence, Marquette, Seton Hall, St. John’s and Villanova have been hanging in the balance since conference re-alignment started with Syracuse and Pittsburgh declaring their exit for the Atlantic Coast Conference in 2012.
The moves of the Catholic Seven are geared towards developing a strong basketball school conference. At the same time, it has some effects on other sports like track and field.
