Tyson Gay Also Tested Positive at U.S. Outdoors
Tyson Gay did not just fail an out-of-competition drug test from May 16, but also tested positive for a performance enhancing drug at the U.S. Outdoor Championships, according to the Associated Press. It was in Des Moines, where Gay captured the 100-meter and 200-meter national titles.
The U.S. Anti-Doping Agency informed Gay about the positive result from Des Moines. The American sprinter withdrew his name from competition at the IAAF World Championships and was replaced by Mike Rodgers (100m) and Wallace Spearmon (200m) on the national team roster.
Gay has been cooperating with the U.S.A.D.A. since the announcement of his first positive test.
The results of the "B" sample taken from the May 16 have not been released. Gay's times from earlier in the season still remain atop the world's best lists and no suspension has been handed down yet.
